The Orange Base Hospital Project was initiated by the NSW Government as a social infrastructure Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project. The Project involves the design, construction, finance and maintenance of a new “green-field” hospital and associated buildings on the existing Bloomfield Health Campus at Orange Base Hospital in regional NSW.
The new hospital is rated at Level 5 with integrated cancer care and tertiary mental health services. Tertiary mental health consists of two new buildings, a 68 bed acute unit and a 45 bed secure/forensic unit. The main hospital building, includes wards comprising 221 beds, 5 operating theatres, ICU, emergency, CCU, renal, outpatients, pharmacy, pathology, kitchen and sterilising departments. The 36,000 m² building is over 2.5 levels with helicopter roof pad access. Works also included the refurbishment of two existing heritage buildings.
