Orange Resource Recovery and Waste Management

Upright Management was engaged by Orange City Council to provide Project Management services for the Orange Resource Recovery and Waste Management Project. This critical infrastructure project is to provide waste services to approximately 45,000 people in the Orange local government and surrounding area, it has a live expectancy of 40 years. Project Management services included Department of Planning approval, detailed design, tendering, construction and commissioning stages.

 

The project consists of new operations at two separate sites; The Ophir Road Resource Recovery Centre located 5km east of the Orange CBD and the Euchareena Road Resource Recovery Centre located 44km from Orange and 5km northeast of Molong, the Euchareena Road site covers an area of 192.6ha.

 

The Ophir Road site infrastructure includes a Bailing Facility, a relocated materials recovery facility (MRF) building, and internal roads. The bailing facility has been designed to handle a throughput of 26,000 tonnes per year and the MRF a throughput of 13,000 tonnes per year.

 

The Euchareena Road Resource Recovery Centre site infrastructure includes a Baled waste landfill and an enclosed multi tunnel composting facility. Ancillary infrastructure includes; car parks, roads, stormwater management, Leachate management, fences, power supply,  offices and storage buildings. The Landfill capacity will be 1.5 million m3 and will be filled at around 35,000 tonnes per year. The composting facility capacity is approximately 20,000 tonnes per year.

 

The project also required substantial road works including Mitchell Highway intersection upgrades, numerous Euchareena Road intersection upgrades and road widening.
